Housing, Local Government and Urban Wellbeing Minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan has showered praises on attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali.

This follows the AG's decision to not pursue any charges against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak based on the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's (MACC) investigation.

"I congratulate the AG for his wisdom and apt interpretation of facts. Never bowed to pressure. Always sticking to principle and the law," Rahman tweeted today.

Earlier today, Apandi said that he had studied the investigation papers and was satisfied there were no grounds for action.

He also said that he will be returning the papers to MACC with instructions to close the investigations.

Apandi was referring to the probes concerning the RM2.6 billion political donation and RM42 million from former 1MDB subsidiary SRC International, transferred into Najib's personal bank accounts.

The transfers were first disclosed by The Wall Street Journal and whistleblower website Sarawak Report last July 3.

Less than a month later, Apandi's predecessor Abdul Gani Patail was removed on health grounds, sparking off speculation it could be related to the investigations.

The prime minister has consistently maintained that he has never abused public funds for personal gains, and has claimed there is a conspiracy to topple him.
