Despite repeated attacks by PAS today, Pakatan Harapan said it would not be dragged into polemics and will focus on issues afflicting the people instead.
It said the people's welfare is Pakatan Harapan's focus, despite statements against the coalition being made at the Selangor PAS election earlier today.
“The (Pakatan Harapan) secretariat takes the stand that Pakatan Harapan's leadership shall not be involved in this endless political polemic, because it distracts us from the people's issues and from curtailing Umno and BN's excesses.
“Moreover, excessive politicking is not taken kindly by the people, and will give an edge for (Prime Minister) Najib Abdul Razak to remain in power,” it said in a statement today.
The statement is jointly signed by Pakatan Harapan chief secretary Saifuddin Abdullah, PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli, DAP organising secretary Anthony Loke, and Amanah secretary-general Mohamad Anuar Tahir.
PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang at the Selangor PAS election at Kuala Selangor today brushed off the newly-formed Pakatan Harapan .
He remarked at a press conference that while opposition coalitions have come and gone, PAS has stood the test of time.
PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man added PAS would no longer sacrifice its electoral seats to other parties including Pakatan Harapan, and Selangor PAS commissioner Iskandar Abdul Samad singled out Amanah as the party's new enemy .
PAS also bars its members from attending DAP and Amanah functions , while permission from the party's central working committee is required to attend functions held by other political parties.
