Malaysia Airlines has confirmed that normal check-in baggage allowances have been restored on all flights across the network including services to Amsterdam, London and Paris.
Malaysia Airlines in a statement today said this is due to its current risk assessment, which is done on a daily basis, that has enabled the airline to take shorter routes on European flights.
"Malaysia Airlines maintains that safety is of utmost priority in our operations and will not hesitate to adjust our flight path based on daily risk assessment," it said.
Yesterday, the airline imposed a temporary limitation on check-in baggage allowance for Kuala Lumpur-Europe flights due to a longer route to Europe - coupled with strong head winds - which it said limited its ability to carry baggage and cargo.
Baggage which was checked in had been shipped to the affected customers in Europe.
Malaysia Airlines said the head winds over the last four days were in excess of 200 knots which can add up to 15 percent fuel burn on a B777-200 aircraft.
