The Selangor government has declared tomorrow a public holiday in the state following Selangor's Malaysia Cup win.
Selangor beat Kedah 2-0 thanks to goals from striker Ahmad Hazwan Bakri in the third and 47th minute in the final at Shah Alam Stadium last night.
Menteri Besar Azmin Ali said the holiday is a sign of gratitude for the Selangor football squad coached by Mehmet Durakovic.
The public holiday has the consent of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, and was referred to State Secretary Mohammed Khusrin Munawi.
This is Selangor's 33rd Malaysia Cup win.
"I am happy that Selangor has ended a 10-year drought in the Malaysia Cup competition and hope this success can be continued," said Azmin at a news conference after the match.
Azmin, who is also Football Association of Selangor (FAS) president, said he and team manager Amirudin Shari will refer to the executive council on the future of Durakovic.
"Since there is a lot of speculation about his future, I do not think it is fair for me to make any statement based on speculation," he added.
