The practice of receiving political donations does not contravene any law in the country, according to Umno information chief Ahmad Maslan.

“There is no specific provision requiring political parties to disclose the amount of donations they received,” he said at the National Undergraduate Leadership Conference 2015 themed ‘Undergraduates The Architects of the Future’ at the Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

The four-day conference started on Thursday in conjunction with the Umno general assembly 2015 which will be held from Dec 8 till 12.

In another development, Ahmad who is also international trade and industry deputy minister, alleged that the price of goods had remained high even after the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) because of unscrupulous traders.

“The price of goods has not dropped because of sabotage and manipulation by irresponsible and unethical traders,” he claimed, adding that only the price of cars had dropped.
