A total of 8,157 cases of dengue fever were recorded in Perak between January and October this year, and increase of 83.1 per cent from 4,456 cases during the corresponding period last year.
State Health director Dr Juita Ghazalie said 22 fatalities were reported during the period this year, from 11 last year.
The latest fatality due to dengue reported this year was last Oct 24 at Fair Perak, she told a media conference after a gotong-royong programme in Kampung Tawas, Ipoh today.
She said the highest dengue cases reported this year was in Lembah Kinta, totalling 5,525 cases, followed by Manjung (697), Kuala Kangsar (414) and Kampar (344).
