PAS will not take part in a vote against Budget 2016, said party president Abdul Hadi Awang.
Sinar Harian reports that the decision was supported by all PAS lawmakers.
“On rejecting the Budget, we will abstain and not vote to reject it in absolute terms because our party policy is to support what’s good for the people and to reject negative things.
“There are things we don't agree on, but there is no way we will join calls to reject Budget 2016,” Hadi was quoted as saying by the Malay daily in Kuala Terengganu yesterday.
Voting down the budget would be akin to a vote of no confidence for Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan has said that Hadi supported a no-confidence vote against Najib 'in principle'.
Previously, PAS had disagreed with the rest of the opposition, who protested Najib's budget speech by holding up signs with "Where is the RM2.6 billion?" written on it.
Hadi said PAS did not partake in the act because its lawmakers were civil.
