Rawang assemblyperson Gan Pei Nei has rubbished the alleged “Rawang Move” to remove Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali as mere propaganda.
Gan said the party was focusing on a “Pekan Move” to remove Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak from the prime minister’s post.
“PKR is focusing on the Pekan Move to remove Najib and the 1MDB scandal,” she says in her Facebook posting today.
Gan said the ‘Rawang Move’ propaganda was clearly the job of “desperate quarters” aiming to shift attention away from the Umno-BN internal crisis, the 1MDB scndal and the move for a vote of no confidence against the prime minister.
“(This propaganda) is also aimed to split and tarnish PKR’s image,” she said.
The blog, Babab.net, claimed that that the Rawang Move was aimed at replacing Azmin with PKR’s newest high profile member, Saifuddin Abdullah, as Selangor menteri besar.
Azmin has denied the speculation.
The blog claimed that Gan would vacate her seat to make way for Saifuddin to contest in a by-election.
According to the blog, the move to remove Azmin was initiated after his apparent refusal to remove PAS members from the Selangor state executive council posts.
When contacted, Saifuddin also denied talk that he would replace Azmin, saying: “No such thing!”
