In a diatribe laced with sarcasm, pro-Umno blog MyKMU.net has expressed gratitude to Saifuddin Abdullah for leaving Umno to join PKR.
The portal, which is a staunch defender of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, described the former Temerloh lawmaker's decision to cross to the other side as a "blessing in disguise".
Furthermore, MyKMU said, the move does not come as a surprise.
"His ideological slant concerning liberal Islam and Malay is in line with the leadership of (PKR de facto leader) Anwar Ibrahim.
"The Umno grassroots were hoping he would leave the party due to his liberal views whereas PKR needs Saifuddin as a good orator and strategist," it added.
The portal also described Saifuddin, who has been critical of various issues such as 1MDB, as a thorn in the flesh of Umno.
"Umno, which adheres to the path of moderation in religious and race issues, is no longer suitable for Saifuddin's liberal mindset.
"Thank you Saifuddin, for saving Umno," MyKMU said.
