Following the MCA Youth annual general meeting , Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and his RM2.6 billion scandal have again become a hot issue at the AGM of the MCA .
One delegate urged the MCA leadership to openly call for Najib's resignation, while another asked whether MCA had a share in the RM2.6 billion "political fund".
MCA should take action to find out if the Attorney-General’s Chambers and the Prime Minister’s Department have covered up on the 1MDB issue and RM2.6 billion scandal, argued Cheras delegate Heng Sinn Yee.
"(Najib) received billions of ringgit, but did not declare it, and he even transferred funds into his personal bank accounts.
"Plus, abuse of power took place one after another: replacement of the deputy prime minister and attorney-general; reshuffling of the cabinet and paralysing of the Public Accounts Committee.
"Anybody would believe that there were suspicious things going on," Heng said in her high-pitched speech.
Former MCA president Dr Ling Liong Sik has been threatened with a possible lawsuit after publicly demanding Najib's resignation, but he dared Najib to see him in court and this has gained applause from the people, she said.
However, MCA, which was supposed to come to his defence, said it was Ling's "personal remark" and distanced itself from Ling.
This has indeed disappointed the people, she lamented.
She therefore urged MCA to follow the people's demands and openly demand Najib's clear explanation on 1MDB and RM2.6 billion scandal.
"MCA should be a responsible political party, step up to ask Najib to come clean on the 1MDB issue and the unknown funds transferred into his personal accounts.
“MCA should ask him to step down as PM. Let graft buster MACC, Bank Negara and the police to carry out their duties independently and without interference," Heng added.
‘How much did MCA get?’
While all speakers trained their guns at Najib and the RM2.6 billion scandal, Pulai delegate Tan Man Lee posed an interesting question to the MCA leadership.
Najib has claimed that the RM2.6 billion was "political donation" which was earmarked for 13th general election, Tan said.
There, what was MCA’s share of the spoil as a member of the BN coalition? he asked.
“I would like to raise a question to the leaders on the stage, which is also a question that puzzled MCA's one million members.
"The PM once said the RM2.6 billion was political donation and that this donation was spent on the GE13.
"According to the PM, the RM2.6 billion was allocated to member parties respectively. Hence, I would like to ask our leadership: How much did you get?" Tan asked.
