Pasir Gudang Umno Youth has slammed its MCA Youth counterpart for cutting ties with Umno chief Najib Abdul Razak, over Najib’s support for the Himpunan Rakyat Bersatu rally.
Pasing Gudang Umno Youth chief Azman Ja’afar said Pasir Gudang MCA Youth was acting in a “rash and desperate” manner, and forgot that MCA needs Umno more than Umno needs MCA.
This is given MCA’s poor performance in the general election, signifying its dwindling support within the Chinese community.
“Given the current scenario of Chinese political support, BN more direly needs Malays to make up for MCA’s weakness to garner Chinese support for the coalition,” he said in a statement.
He said that the Himpunan Rakyat Bersatu rally was held according to the law and that the right to assemble is a constitutional right.
“MCA Youth needs to realise that it is now time to unite, not play with racial sentiments which the opposition is using to break up BN,” he said.
“It is not too late for MCA Youth to realise that Malaysia’s success as a nation is thanks to our unity and racial tolerance.”
Pasir Gudang MCA Youth yesterday said it will not support any of Najib’s programmes, but will ironically still cooperate with Johor Umno.
