YOURSAY ‘Lots of people know what is right but not many are willing to speak up.’
A paradigm shift in Malaysian politics?
Swipenter: Since the 13th general election (GE13) the signs are all there that racial politics has outlived its usefulness. A new sense of what a brave new Bolehland could be was born.
The poor support and performance of MCA, MIC, Gerakan and PPP in GE13 and GE14 says a lot but Umno does not listen.
Instead it tries even to lean further to the right and fire up Malay chauvinism. They go on a spree of Chinese bashing and demonisation of opposition parties.
PAS on the other hand is always suspect and party leader Abdul Hadi Awang’s true face was revealed in the Kajang Move and infamous Selangor MBgate.
Umno under Najib Abdul Razak has brought Bolehland so much shame and disgust at home and abroad that any person with any sense of shame and morality would be horrified at what he would do to stay in office.
We are tired of the corruption and antics of Umno-BN politicians and are demanding a clean, an accountable and a democratic Bolehland where everyone has access to fair play, equal opportunities and justice.
Our Right: Lots of people know what is right for the country but not many are willing to speak up or do anything, worrying they would lose their jobs, etc. We need more voices to fight for a better Malaysia.
Haveagreatday: "The Group of 25 (G25) eminent Malays pointedly remarked that honour and dignity are not redeemed by blaming others but by upholding the principles of truth and justice...”
Hear, hear! Yes, thank you, retired diplomat Dennis Ignatius, for pointing out the silver lining to the clouds of gloom and doom surrounding the red shirt rally.
Yes, as I read the comments by enlightened and visionary Malays I feel encouraged that there may yet be hope for our troubled nation.
Mr KJ John: Thanks, Dennis. This is an astute and clear analysis of issues without the fogginess of the weather.
Clearwater: Yes, this is a very positive commentary. Many bright young Malaysians are about to give up on a future in this country, and many who are contemplating this right now should take this to heart and re-consider. There is still hope for change.
Anonymous Hotplate: Well said. Holding such a rally shows how shallow the brains of our Umno leaders are. They are the governing regime and yet they show that they fear the good citizens of many races.
Why should they show aggressiveness to a small group of people if they were true and sincere and doing the right thing for the people and the country?
'Effigy-burners mocked Chinese religious rite'
BCA: Watching the big flame burning the effigies of DAP leaders Lim Kit Siang and Lim Guan Eng shows both of them will be very ‘heng, hock, huat’.
If Kelantan Umno does not understand this, please keep on praying the Taoist way with joss sticks and you will get the answer.
Sabm_391f: The ruling leaders of the country must not stoke the fire, but as those who are selfless and concerned for the populace, douse the fire.
If not, Malaysia may be akin to Rome when Nero set it on fire. May God impute godly wisdom to all leaders.
Can one live and survive on pride and ego when the land is in drought and produces nothing?
Who and what are mankind’s worst enemies? Corruption, jealousy, covetousness, immoral activities and those who just follow the mob without using their own minds to accept reality.
Grow up. Knowing the good you can do but did not is a sin, for which you have to be answerable to your creator upon your appointed time.
Anonymous_1372741039: Is the burning of effigies a Malaysian cultural practice? Is this what is taught to us by our respective religious institutions? I think not, so one must not blame religion but the ugliness in men for the lack of goodness and understanding.
Did the ugly mob ever stop to wonder or ask what has DAP got to do with the Bersih 4 rally? I do not think so. Nonetheless, they blame the Chinese, DAP, Christians and Jews as the source of all Malay Malaysian ills.
Umnoputras do not impress the moderate Malays, the God-fearing Malays and the destitute Malays for Umno has failed them, except for its cronies and the Umnoputras.
The red shirts do not have a share of the RM2.6 billion, neither will Felda settlers and those who march against the yellow shirts who in their quest, marched for all Malaysians and the nation.
What are you marching for, Red Shirt? For ‘Melayu pride’ or ‘Umno Melayu’ pride. The yellow shirts rally, God knows, did not insult any Malays, instead you have insulted yourselves.
GMK: We should be against all form of racist provocation. Kit Siang and Guan Eng have been the target since GE13 when most of the Chinese shifted their support to Pakatan Rakyat and such a move was conveniently viewed as a threat from DAP.
We must not forget that Kit Siang had lost three times in the battle for Tanjung in Penang. The Chinese did not give him the support then.
It was only during GE13 that the winds of change started. BN, especially Umno, must seek the answer within themselves why this happened.
Pahatian: “If it makes them happy to burn my effigy, just do it but do not burn the whole country." Good one, Guan Eng.
