YOURSAY 'The reds brought it all upon themselves. Mkini and TMI just reported what was.'
Utusan slams news portals for being anti-red shirts
Ferdtan: Imagine Utusan Malaysia accused Malaysiakini and The Malaysian Insider (TMI) of “double standards” in their reporting of the red shirt rally.
A rogue in the news media is accusing others of lack of ethics? Indirectly we are pleased with this accusation by Umno’s mouthpiece. It tells something.
It lends credence that the racialist overtone at the rally had failed its objective - it was to gain more support from the Malays, but instead now they get brickbats judging from the social media comments.
So what else can we expect from the likes of Umno and its sidekick Utusan , when faced with their failure? Blame others, of course. This time the scapegoats are the alternative news portals.
Speechless: I support freedom of assembly, but I totally reject sponsored racism. The red shirt rally was all about vilifying the Chinese.
What's there to support? Calling the Chinese "Cina babi" should be condemned in the strongest terms.
Anonymous_1421806811: Strange. Utusan has nothing good to report about Bersih, but it is now saying that independent news portals are reporting negatively about the red shirts.
Either Utusan's editors have this childish mentality (I can say bad things about you, but you can't say anything bad about me), or readers of Utusa n are abandoning the newspaper in favour of Malaysiakini , TMI and other alternative news portals.
Oh Ya?: Was there anything positive for the mainstream or online media to report about the rally?
It is obvious that Umno is firmly behind the rally, but dares not take it on. Instead it had outsourced it to extremist groups just as it has outsourced the racial blasting and religious bigotry to Perkasa and the like.
Even former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad doesn't have a clue what the rally stands for.
Despite the organisers' racial slurs and violent outbursts at the outset, the ruling elite not only legalised it but has given its outright endorsement and encouragement, in contrast to its rough and high-handed handling of Bersih 4. Not only was the latter intimidated and suppressed, even the Bersih T-shirts were outlawed.
And one can bet the ruling elite will not haul up the red shirts organisers as it has hauled up Bersih 4 leaders, not even those who burned the effigies of DAP leaders Lim Kit Siang and Lim Guan Eng, and those who clashed with the PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) in Petaling Street.
RM2.6billion Duit Haram: Utusan again shows how unreasonable it is. How on earth is Malaysiakini going to write a glowing report of the red shirt march when the marchers are donning T-shirts bearing racial slurs and carrying placards with inflammatory remarks?
How can it be reported that the march was peaceful when images of red shirt demonstrators in confrontation with the FRU (riot police) were splashed all over the world via WhatsApp or Facebook?
This is like asking Malaysiakini to describe how beautiful and charming Dracula is.
GGXY: Thank you, Utusan, for teaching Malaysiakini and TMI to use "double standards" when reporting on current events.
Your years of training have not gone in vain. What is sauce for goose is sauce for gander.
Stand Up Be Counted: A trash newspaper talks trash. The Bersih 4 rally never needed so many police personnel despite having 10 times the crowd. Bersih 4 was never ‘blessed’ with water cannons. Isn't it obvious?
Fightforjustice: How very funny. The reds brought it all upon themselves. Malaysiakini and TMI just reported what was.
Jesse: How come they did not say that it was a Chinese, Jewish and international conspiracy that ensured the numbers at the red shirt rally was so small despite providing free food, transport and red T-shirts?
Thinkingmachine: Your truth can never be my truth. Utusan should build bridges among the races so that we can learn from one another. Let us celebrate our differences. There are no winners or losers in this racial game.
Pisasu 7: It's sour grapes because only 45,000 turned up despite free transport and ‘duit makan’ (free food), whereas for Bersih 4, 100,000 turned up on their own accord and left in a civilised manner.
Indeed, there is a vast gulf between mat rempits and educated Malaysians.
Anonymous_1431447320: How can any logical person support the red shirt rally? I am still trying to figure who is threatening the Malays.
If you refer to Umno veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah's speech , the educated ones will realise there is absolutely no threat. It’s the current politicians who are trying to divert the attention of the nation from their corrupt practices.
Beep!: Well, did anyone expect Utusan to say it different? By his own definition, one rally speaker admitted they had a right to rally as "Islamic racists".
