Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar has asked members of the public to stop spreading rumours on the missing deputy head of the Appellate and Trial Division in the Attorney-General's Chambers, Anthony Kevin Morais.
"Police have advised that the spread of the rumours must stop as it could confuse the people," Khalid said on his official Twitter site yesterday.
Khalid was commenting on the writing of a Twitter user that alleged the car found in Hutan Melintang, Perak, this morning belonged to Kevin, who was involved in 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) investigations.
The owner of the Twitter account, using the name @raishussin, wrote: "DPP Kevin Morias ( photo ) who was in charge of 1MDB investigation is now missing and his car was found burnt (at Hutan Melintang)."
The individual also uploaded three pictures of the car he claimed belonged to Kevin.
On Friday, Kevin was reported last seen leaving his apartment in Menara Duta, Kuala Lumpur, to go to his office in Putrajaya.
He was reported to be driving a grey Proton Perdana with registration number WA 6264 Q.
Today, police found a car razed in Kampung Sungai Samak, Hutan Melintang, Perak, believed to be the same car model used by Kevin.
However, police have not confirmed or denied that the vehicle found belonged to Kevin.
