Malacca police have arrested 12 individuals in the state for wearing yellow T-shirt with the printed words 'Bersih 4' which is prohibited under the Printing Presses and Publications (Control of Undesirable Publications) (No. 22) Order 2015).
Malacca police chief Chuah Ghee Lye said nine individuals were arrested while attending the rally in Dataran Pahlawan, Bandar Hilir at 10.30pm last night.
He said three others were arrested in roadblocks conducted by the police in the country yesterday afternoon.
"All of them were brought to the nearest police stations and released on police bail after their statements were taken," he said when contacted by Bernama here today.
Chuah said police would continue to monitor the areas under focus to ensure public safety and order.
The media reported last Friday that the Home Ministry had issued a ban on the publishing of any materials on Bersih 4, which was signed by Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also Home Minister.
Meanwhile a Bernama survey this morning in several focused areas, including Bandar Hilir in Malacca revealed that the public and foreign tourists thronged it as usual such as during weekends in the state.
