Former law minister Zaid Ibrahim has reminded new attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali that the people are watching him.
In a series of tweets today, he responded to Mohamed Apandi's remarks in a Malaysiakini report earlier, where the latter cautioned against "insinuating" anything against him.
"Don't try to insinuate anything against me. I give a warning to everybody. All right?
"Be careful. I will be watching," he had said when quizzed on speculation that his appointment was to cover up allegations against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
I want to remind the new AG that the people are also warning him; do your job properly. We are watching #fb

Referring to Mohamed Apandi's home state, Zaid tweeted: "Apandi Kelantan warrior has now given his warning, that he is watching; don't insinuate anything about 1MDB and the prime minister."
"This is the first time in the history of the country where (the) new AG (has) issued such a warning," he said.
"I want to remind the new AG that the people are also warning him; do your job properly. We are watching," he added.
Mohamed Apandi had replaced Abdul Gani Patail on July 28 after the latter was removed due to health reasons.
However, Gani himself had appeared to be in the dark about the matter, igniting speculations that he was axed to derail a special task force probe on 1MDB and the RM2.6 billion deposited into Najib’s personal bank accounts.
The prime minister had denied using public funds for personal gain while the RM2.6 billion has been described as political donation.
Mohamed Apandi had also disbanded the task force since taking office but stressed that he would act in an independent manner.
Meanwhile, Zaid asked when Mohamed Apandi was offered the job, as well as how he had reacted to the new position.
"What day and what time (was he offered the job)?
"Did the new AG meet the PM about the job? Did he ask PM why suddenly the country needs a new AG? Why not Gani?" he asked.
