PAS will support a no-confidence vote against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak should it be taken in Parliament.
"If there is a vote of no-confidence against the prime minister, PAS will give its support because action brought against 1MDB thus far and the answers with regard to the RM2.6 billion in 'donation' could not be accepted by the rakyat," said PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man in a statement today.
His promise today comes after elections director Mustafa Ali said that he would support such a move.
Although Tuan Ibrahim's support for the no-confidence vote is apparent, it is unclear, however, if all PAS members would ultimately give their support for the move especially since the party's number one man, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang's ( photo ) statements as of late had been "supportive" of Najib.
Meanwhile, Tuan Ibrahim also lamented the police's "hypocrisy" for their tardiness in taking action against the 20 Barisan Nasional MPs and the alleged mastermind behind the plot to topple Najib.
"Why hasn't the inspector-general of police (Khalid Abu Bakar) taken action to investigate those who are allegedly involved to topple the prime minister under Section 124B (of the Penal Code) for activities detrimental to parliamentary democracy?
"Why hasn't there been action to prevent them from leaving the country, like what faced by opposition and NGO leaders?
"Why has there been no arrest, or raids to their houses like that faced by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and Bank Negara officials?
"Why are the police suddenly slow in taking action? Isn't that hypocrisy?" asked Tuan Ibrahim without mincing his words.
Police should be arresting BN ministers
The PAS leader added that since the police were not taking action on the "rumours", the police should therefore not take action against the organisers of the Bersih 4 rally under Section 124B as this will only worsen their image.
"The police should be arresting BN ministers who try to lie to the rakyat.
"Because the one who will topple the prime minister would be the mind-boggling answers produced by BN leaders with regard to the RM2.6 billion donated into the prime minister's accounts, and not anyone else," he said.
Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi ( photo ) had claimed that an " orang tua " (old man) from Umno was collecting statutory declarations (SD) from more than half of the lawmakers in the Dewan Rakyat in the bid to topple Najib.
He has since however cleared the 20 lawmakers, including his deputy Nur Jazlan Mohamad, implicated in the plot.
"None of the 20 names put up by blogs have been approached to sign statutory declarations," he said yesterday.
