The ringgit opened higher against the US dollar this morning, lifted by continued buying interest from exporters, dealers said.
At 9.25am, the ringgit was quoted at 4.0770/0840 against 4.0860/0920 to the US dollar at 5pm yesterday.
"Many traders were seen covering their ringgit short positions against the greenback.
"Exporters' demand to sell and hedge foreign currencies for the ringgit had also lent support to the local unit in today's early trade," said a corporate dealer.
The ringgit was also traded firmer against other major currencies.
It rebounded slightly against the Singapore dollar to 2.9063/9124 from yesterday's 2.9080/9139 and gained against the yen to 3.2784/2853 from yesterday's 3.2854/2912.
The ringgit also edged up against the British pound to 6.3891/4017 from 6.4007/4126 and improved against the euro to 4.4998/5091 from 4.5228/5303 yesterday.
