The latest speculation is that the Sarawak election may be held after Chief Minister Adenan Satem tables the state budget in November, according to The Borneo Post .
The newspaper said Adenan could call for the state election after tabling the state budget.
"Well, election can be called any time after I table the state budget in November," Adenan told The Borneo Post .
He also said it is important that Parliament approves the 11 new seats in order for them to be included in the state election.
Adenan added he raised this with Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, and the latter would table it in Parliament sometime in October.
The 11 new seats are Batu Kitang, Stakan, Serembu, Triboh, Gedong, Kabong, Tellian, Selirik, Murum, Samalaju and Long Lama.
Commenting on the excellent rating he received from independent pollster Merdeka Centre, the chief minister said BN component parties must carry their own weight.
"But that (survey) is only for me, I cannot carry the rest," he added.
Adenan was also cautious about the outcome of the state election, stating he would not take things for granted.
"For the coming state election, I will never take things for granted.
"Now that I seem to be very popular, I am humbled by it. I will not be arrogant. I have warned my people not to be arrogant," he said.
Adenan reiterated that BN would be fielding several new faces.
"Some will have to go while some have indicated to me they want to retire. Some have indicated they still want one more term.
"Some, I just have to persuade them to withdraw," he said.
