Who’s mystery man behind the ‘donation’?

YOURSAY ‘Zahid, the only ‘mystery’ man we are interested in is the Arab.’

DPM dares mystery man in putsch plot to deny it

Magnus: DPM and Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamid is stirring up the issue of the mystery man in Umno. Are we to divert attention from real issues that one ought to be concerned about if one had any shred of integrity?

Like that whopping US$681 million "political donation" to Umno from some incredibly generous "unknown" foreign source that was wired into PM Najib Razak's personal bank account.

Or the US$31 million (x3.13*=RM97 million**) that Sarawak Report reported was withdrawn in the period between March 21, 2013 and Aug 30, 2013.

(*The average exchange rate from March 21 to Aug 30, 2013 was RM3.13 to US$1; **the allowed expenditure limit for GE13 was RM94.7million.)

Or the even more inexplicable alleged transfer of US$650 million of that "political donation" said to belonged to Umno to an unknown location on Aug 30, 2013 and that personal bank account closed the same day as the transfer.

And what has happened to the interest earned on that whopping "political donation" to Umno that was held in Najib's account for about five months before the balance of the “political donation” was transferred out to somewhere and that bank account closed?

The Bank Negara site shows the average three-month interest rate for the period from March to end August 2013 to be 3.15%. So assuming that rate on at least US$650 million for five months, that works out at around RM27 million.

Where is that cash or what was it used for, given that the US$31 million (or RM97 million) that is suspected to have been siphoned away (from 1MDB borrowed funds?) has already more than fully covered the GE13 election expenditure limit?

And why was RM42 million from SRC International (from retirement fund KWAP perhaps?) transferred into another one of Najib's personal bank accounts held at the same AmPrivate bank in December 2014 and February 2015?

What was that cash used for?

So, Zahid, what exactly is Najib, the finance minister, doing connecting himself to these highly suspect voodoo financial transactions that even a novice in finance with a shred of financial probity would ensure s/he never touched even with a barge pole?

Negarawan: "This is because there are four types of courts, namely the court of justice, people's court who are the voters, court of perception and court of public opinion," said Zahid.

In Malaysia, the most powerful court is Umno’s kangaroo court. Zahid, a vote of no confidence is a democratic process. Don't try to criminalise it to save your own neck and job.

Barely a month into the job, you are already baring your fangs. You don't speak and behave like a respected leader, rather more like a thug.

Odin Tajué: Zahid, first you talk big, which is to be expected of you. You said you had the information, but yet you did not know who the person was.

Second, don't pretend to be clever when you are actually not. You haven't the foggiest what you are talking about. The court of public opinion and the court of perception are one and the same. What you perceive determines your opinion.

The judges in the court of public opinion-perception are not the same as those in the court of justice. They are qualified by virtue of the fact that they have functioning brains between their ears. They use these brains to process the information that they have received through their ears and eyes, and then to come to a conclusion.

The judges in the court of justice need paper qualifications. Obviously, your doctorate is valueless.

Pahatian: Zahid, what are you waiting for? Since you know who that person is, just name and shame him or let the Umno supreme council take action against him.

Why the need for him to come out openly and deny the accusation?

Headhunter: Since Zahid was the one who brought the matter up, he should name the person concerned if he has the guts. Otherwise, he's just fishing.

The only "mystery" man we are interested in is the Arab who donated RM2.6 billion to Najib.

It would be more believable if Najib had told us that he found Ali Baba’s trove of treasures in a cave when he was hiking on one of those numerous trips to Middle East.

Rupert16: Zahid is such a stupid minister trying to act smart. First you accuse someone, and instead of having the balls to name the person, you asked the person to deny it.

Hence it could only mean two things, either Zahid is lying or he has no guts to name the person.

In any case for most rakyat, Zahid is trying to distract attention from the more urgent issues at hand - rampant corruption by the very top and the poor state of the country's economy.

Anonymous_1421806811: The DPM says if the man has guts he should come out and tell the public. If our PM himself is without any guts to tell Malaysians the truth, can we blame anybody else for being gutless?

I totally disagree with DPM there are four courts. There are actually only two. One for Najib and his gang and another for the rest of the country.

Onyourtoes: Don't worry Zahid, it is futile to pre-empt anything now. The nation is in crisis, people are suffering. Let the MPs decide who they want to be the nation’s top leader. We can’t wait till the next election.

It may be too late and given our electoral system, people may still not be able to achieve what they really want. The writing is on the wall, there is no need to talk about different courts.
