1MDB has dismissed Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua's repeated calls for an open dialogue, describing it as a "chicken challenge" by the DAP lawmaker.
"Despite prior clarification by 1MDB, YB Pua persists with his provocative 'chicken challenge'.
"It is clear that Pua is attempting to undermine the various ongoing investigations through his 'chicken challenge'.
"This is not the appropriate forum to establish the truth," it said in a statement today.
Pua yesterday repeated his challenge for 1MDB to engage him in an open dialogue and raised further questions about the company including the status of the Cayman Islands funds said to be in currently held in Singapore as "units".
However, 1MDB merely responded by repeating its usual retort that the allegations were Pua's attempt to "regurgitate, reuse and recycle old allegations" and ignoring past clarifications on the matter.
"1MDB fully acknowledges that Pua raises many legitimate questions.
"We assure the Malaysian public that the lawful authorities investigating 1MDB, have asked the same questions, and more," it said.
‘Wait for probe outcome’
1MDB also reiterated its president Arul Kanda's assertion that the public need not take the company's word for it but can instead wait for the outcome of investigations.
"1MDB will not be distracted and will continue full steam ahead with our rationalisation plan.
"We aim to stabilise the company, continue to meet our debt obligations and deliver on our core projects: Tun Razak Exchange, Bandar Malaysia and Edra Energy Berhad," it said.
