YOURSAY ‘You only got away so far because you control the key institutions.’
Najib: Three million Umno members support me
Aries46: If PM Najib Razak thinks with the 1MDB and PAC probe effectively scuttled with his pre-emptive strike against those out for his hide, the Public Accounts Committee chair out of the way and his propaganda machine in full swing churning out lies that everything is hunky-dory, he is badly mistaken.
As for Malaysians, their clamour for the truth behind the alleged 1MDB scam will not abate until the criminals that siphoned off their hard-earned money are brought to book.
Yes, three million of his hired supporters may be at his beck and call for the goodies lined up but that does not necessarily convert to votes. Even the hardcore Umno man is feeling the pinch of Najib's indiscretions.
This is not the Mahathir era when jobs were aplenty, the economy growing and cost of living manageable for the poor.
Anything that Najib touched has become a burden and never in our history have the people been put in this plight of high cost of living and unjust taxes to feed Najib’s insatiable desires for power and pleasure.
Odin Tajué: Najib, this is yet another instance of you exhibiting your possession of the gift of twisting or trying to twist your way out of the hole you are in. The one person you referred to is Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Mahathir (and so have many others) has demanded of you to step down from the prime minister's position and not from the position of the president of Umno, so that the investigation into the alleged theft of vast sums of money from 1MDB, SRC International and all other entities could be effected without let and hindrance. Those are two completely different things.
You can remain as the president of your party till you kick the bucket for all we care. Of course, the imbeciles and the greedy and the corrupt in Umno cannot see the difference. Those of them who have somewhat functioning brains have minds that are totally clouded by the obsessive, overpowering lust for big, easy money and lofty positions - and, it is too obvious for words, yours is befogged by the same things.
You can fool those mindless, moronic helots and avaricious charlatans and knaves, whose numbers are, thankfully, small, but you cannot dupe and gull the majority of the populace.
You are still there only because, like all other corrupt tyrants and dictators, you have brought to bear all arms of the government to subdue, oppress, thwart and annihilate all those in your way. May your ignominious end be nearer than near.
Pemerhati: Najib said, "Without Umno, wretched will be the lives of the Malays”.
In fact if you compare the performance of countries like Singapore, Taiwan and South Korea, whose level of development and per capita incomes were similar to or below Malaysia’s in 1957, you will find that the Malays now have been left far behind in all areas when compared to the Singaporeans, Koreans and Taiwanese.
The reason for this is Umno’s incompetence, corruption and massive theft of the people’s money through crooked and fraudulent schemes and scams such as the IPPs (independent power plants), 1MDB, etc.
Now the income of the Malays is only one-fifth that of the Singaporeans. The Pisa ranking show that the standards in Malaysian schools are amongst the lowest in the world.
Our university standards, which were previously comparable to that of Singapore’s high standards, have fallen dramatically and hence local graduates are not respected and viewed with suspicion.
For all this and many other problems, the Malays will have to thank Umno.
Iiiizzzziiii: "If we choose moderation and are united, loyal to the leader, work hard, serve the people, solve the people's problems, look after the welfare of all communities..."
Whoever wrote this, seems to be expounding wisdom, but what is the true implication from this simple wisdom? Moderation - the action of the government did not reflect that. United - the country is at a point where polarisation of the ethnic groups is at breaking point.
Loyal to the leader - when the credibility and integrity of the PM are questionable for not being able to provide answers to simple questions?
Work hard, serve the people and solve the people's problems, but does the government listen to the people and treat all Malaysians equally without the need for special privileges to the largest ethnic group in the country?
Yes, wisdom expounding here but sadly, not being applied and practised. What is the point? ‘Syok sendiri’?
Magnus: Three million Umno members may support you but 53 percent of the voting electorate in the last general election did not support you or Umno-BN.
The other 47 percent supported you very probably because they were ignorant of what was happening or you were able to buy their votes allegedly with the RM2.6 billion of unexplained cash that was reportedly transferred into your bank accounts before GE13.
Where did that RM2.6 billion come from? Why does Najib refuse to answer questions about the money? And if the cash was used to bankroll GE13, was that expenditure declared to the Election Commission?
So, whichever way you look at that RM2.6 billion allegedly wired into Najib's private bank accounts - whether it was siphoned off from public monies or political donation from some extremely generous person in the Middle East - they appear to be highly suspect, illegal and thoroughly unlawful.
The rakyat, irrespective of ethnicity, are not asking Najib to resign as head of Umno because they do not care about Umno. They care about the public institutions, public monies, due processes and the integrity of the government and the well-being of their country.
Jagara: Remember, it doesn't matter even how many people support you - if you are corrupt, you are corrupt; if you are dishonest, you are dishonest. It is as simple as that.
You only got away so far because you have controlled and corrupted the institutions that count. You even sacked the attorney-general who was going to act against you. What more is there to say? You are a shameless leader with no morals or scruples.
Rupert16: To ordinary rakyat like us, basic needs are important. But to people like Najib, you think he really cares two hoots about them considering the extravagant lifestyle he and his family have been living?
If we, the ordinary rakyat, do question and challenge him and his government over the 1MDB scam - which is really the tip of the iceberg with respect to the pillaging and plundering of the country's wealth and resources by people in high places over the years - very soon our basic needs and those of our children’s and grandchildren’s will not be met.
The 1MDB scam is a defining moment for us. We need to stand up to this very corrupt and incompetent government, which is now using its power to arrest those who dare to speak the truth.
