Umno deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin may face disciplinary action for his statement that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak admitted to claims that RM2.6 billion was deposited into his private bank accounts.
Umno supreme council member Abdul Aziz Kaprawi ( photo ) said this in reference to a leaked video of Muhyiddin who made the statement at his residence after being dropped as deputy prime minister.
Muhyiddin had said that prior to being jettisoned from the cabinet, he had confronted Najib about the claim, to which the prime minister admitted to it and claimed the funds came from the middle east.
"There is a possibility (that he may be referred to the party's disciplinary committee) because the circulated video of him in his home clearly showed he was not holding on to his promise to back the prime minister.
"It is even more saddening that he made the revelations to opposition figures in his own home," he was quoted as saying by Sinar Harian today.
Aziz, who is also deputy transport minister, also accused Muhyiddin of deliberately arranging for the video to be recorded and leaked.
"It appeared as if it was all arranged as it happened in his own home," he said.
