PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang says the new cabinet should be given space to perform before judgment is passed on them.
"It is too early to judge... we should give them space to carry out their studies properly, to solve the 1MDB problem, the economic problem, there are many issues to be resolved," Hadi is quoted as saying by Sinar Harian today.
He said this in reference to the cabinet reshuffle on Tuesday, in which Muhyiddin Yassin was dropped as deputy prime minister for his criticism of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's handling of 1MDB.
Hadi ( photo ) also refused to weigh in on Muhyiddin's ouster, telling journalists in Kuala Nerus last night that it was an internal Umno matter.
He added that it was up to Muhyiddin to remain in Umno or leave, when asked by Sinar Harian if PAS would offer the former deputy prime minister a place in the party.
Muhyiddin remains as Umno deputy president.
Attempt to block probe into 1MDB
In the cabinet reshuffle on Tuesday, Umno vice-president Shafie Apdal, who was also critical of 1MDB, was dropped as rural and regional development minister.
The reshuffle was criticised as an attempt to block ongoing investigations into 1MDB.
Four BN MPs from the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), including its chairperson, were appointed into the government, rendering the committee unable to continue with its investigations into 1MDB until they are replaced - which will be when Parliament reconvenes in October.
On the same day of the reshuffle, attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail ( photo ), who was involved in the special task force's separate investigation into 1MDB, was also sacked .
The special task force was among others, looking at claims that RM2.6 billion was deposited into Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's private bank accounts.
Najib has denied taking government funds for personal gain.
