Umno deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin was snubbed by a second Umno division yesterday, by retracting its invitation to him to officiate its annual general meeting (AGM).
Sungai Besar Umno division chief Jamal Md Yunos was quoted by the SuaraTV portal as saying he was afraid Muhyiddin would repeat the same things he had said at the Cheras Umno AGM last Sunday.
Muhyiddin had said, among other things, that Umno would lose if the general election were to be held soon.
"Sungai Besar Umno was very happy with Tan Sri (Muhyiddin) consenting to officiate the division meeting, scheduled for Aug 30, and we had made all preparations.
"However, we are worried if what happened at the Cheras Umno division would happen again," Jamal is quoted as saying.
He said his division sent an official letter to Muhyiddin yesterday explaining the withdrawal of the invitation.
Sungai Besar is the second division to retract its invitation to the former deputy prime minister who was sacked on Tuesday.
Yesterday, the Raub Umno division retracted its invitation to Muhyiddin to officiate its delegates’ meeting on Aug 15.
It said it was because of Muhyiddin’s scathing remarks on Najib's leadership on Sunday night.
"Raub Umno is disappointed with Muhyiddin's statements, which turned against the spirit of unity and comradeship within the party.
"Raub Umno also regrets Muhyiddin's statements, which could dishearten the party machinery and erode the people's confidence in Umno and BN," its division head Shahiruddin Ab Moin was quoted by Bernama as saying on Tuesday.
