There is no need for Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin to lament about 1MDB, and his boss Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, if he doesn't turn his words into action, says PAS.
Otherwise, it is all just a show to save Umno, PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said today.
"Muhyiddin's seriousness in the 1MDB issue can be measured in his willingness to urge cabinet to lift The Edge 's suspension and also to reveal the Auditor-General's interim report on 1MDB to the public.
"If these two things can't be done by Muhyiddin, consider his lamentations yesterday as a show to reduce the damage against Umno," Tuan Ibrahim ( photo ) said in statement.
Last night the deputy Umno president told the Cheras Umno division that no one in the cabinet could explain what was going on with 1MDB, which he said was a " sovereign debt fund ".
Muhyiddin also said the AG's report on 1MDB should be made public as soon as possible.
However, Tuan Ibrahim said Muhyiddin has had a history of being vocal, but doing nothing.
He cited Muhyiddin's warning earlier this year that the government would be at a loss if it restructured 1MDB's debts by selling land in the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) and Bandar Malaysia.
Will Muhyiddin keep quiet again?
However, the PAS number two noted, Muhyiddin did nothing to stop Tabung Haji's controversial purchase of TRX land, which has yet to be re-sold.
"Will Muhyiddin keep quiet again after being vocal like he did five months ago?" Tuan Ibrahim asked.
Meanwhile, DAP Youth executive committee member Muhammad Shakir Ameer echoed Tuan Ibrahim's call for Muhyiddin to reverse The Edge 's suspension.
He also asked if Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had acted independently on the move.
"The deputy prime minister has reportedly stated that in order for him to understand the issues concerning 1MDB, he has to read suspended The Edge Financial Daily .
"This revelation by the deputy prime minister shows that the suspension of the two publications of The Edge by the Home Ministry doesn’t have the unanimous support of the cabinet.
"Does this mean that the home minister acted on his own, without consulting the seniors in the cabinet?" Muhammad Shakir asked.
