Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar said today Plaza Low Yat where a brawl took place last weekend is safe for the public.
He said the police would continue to conduct patrols around the area to ensure that the situation remains safe.
"I confirm that the place is safe. Some people are trying to disrupt public order by spreading false information," he told reporters when met at the Aidilfitri open house at Bukit Aman.
Asked about the status of blogger Papa Gomo or Wan Mohd Azri Wan Deris, who was to have been remanded until today, Khalid said it was left to the Kuala Lumpur police to conduct the investigation in the matter.
"If they need to remand him longer, then we will make the application. If the probe has been completed, the case will be referred to the public prosecutor," he said.
Papa Gomo was later today freed on police bail .
Twenty-six other individuals who were held over the brawl have been released on police bail.
The brawl erupted after a thief of a mobile telephone was caught by an employee of the outlet and irresponsible people spread information on the social media about a racial clash there.
