Kuala Lumpur police chief Tajuddin Md Isa has dismissed suggestions that police investigations into the Low Yat Plaza brawl on Saturday evening were biased.
Tajuddin said both parties involved in the brawl would be investigated fairly.
"Give us time to complete investigations and don't make any assumptions (until then)," he told reporters tonight, at the entrance to Low Yat Plaza.
He was speaking at the scene of a rally which occurred earlier, involving 200 people claiming to represent Malay NGOs such as Persatuan Kebajikan Islam dan Dakwah Islamiah (Pekida).
A Pekida spokesperson had told reporters that their show of force was to demand "fairness".
Four arrests made
Tajuddin also said that four suspects have been arrested in connection with the brawl.
One was arrested for alleged theft while three others were detained under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.
"Until now the police have opened two investigation papers and have apprehended four suspects regarding the case," he said.
Tajuddin also warned the people not to spread lies and incite racial hatred about the Low Yat Plaza incidents, including in blogs.
"We will (monitor online content) and if needed, we will take action under Section 223 Malaysia Communications and Multimedia Commission Act," he said.
