YOURSAY ‘What is all the fuss about? The RM2 million was her savings.’
Report: RM2m deposited into Rosmah's account
Pemerhati: When is the attorney-general (AG) going to come out and say that he has ordered an immediate investigation to find out who leaked this latest information to Sarawak Report .
He knows that a statement like that will make PM Najib Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor very happy, and consequently there is a strong possibility he will be well rewarded.
0berserver: "It's all our CSR (corporate social responsibility) money, funds for the rakyat (Umno-linked ‘NGOs’). Why do you keep questioning us? We were (well, he was) voted (by a minority) into this position, so why do you question us all the time?
“You can vote every five years. If you think we did a bad thing, you can vote in someone else (that we have lined up). Oh yes, please line up then to get Umno's goodies. We really care for you and the rakyat. You scratch our back, we scratch yours.”
That, fundamentally, is still the story they try to sell at taxpayers' dear expense.
Ablastine: Now I understand why the prime minister also wants to be the finance minister.
Justine Gow: Where does the money in the account come from? (a) Inheritance from father-in-law. (b) Saving since the age of one. (c) Gift from son, from his profit of the ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ movie. (d) All of the above. (e) None of the above.
Hmmmmmmmm: Did Bank Negara report her to the Inland Revenue Board (1RB)? I understand that any transaction involving more than RM50,000 in cash will be reported to Bank Negara?
Homesick: Indeed, what is all the fuss about? That's her saving. She has been saving since she was a child.
On a more serious note, the RM2 million is just loose changes or ‘kacang putih’ to people like them.
Justice Pao: "My son-in-law's family from Kazakhstan asked me to deposit the money for them to pay for all the wedding expenses incurred. In Kazakhstan, they only deal in cash so they sent me all the money already converted into ringgit."
Task force: No freeze as PM's accounts closed
Wg321: Let us examine the chronology of events. On July 2, 2015 (New York time), the WSJ reported that US$681 million originating from Tanore Finance in British Virgin Islands was deposited in Najib’s accounts in two transactions - on March 21 and March 25 in 2013 - in Ambank.
On May 5, 2013, the 13rd General Election was held. On Aug 30, 2013, one of Najib’s accounts was closed. The other account was closed on March 9, 2015 where RM42 million from SRC International Sdn Bhd was deposited.
Nowhere in their report, did the WSJ accuse Najib of using the money for his personal interests. So what happened to the RM2.6 billion? The money cannot simply disappear.
The plausible explanation is that these accounts are trustee accounts held in the name of Najib on behalf of Umno for the last general election campaign.
That was why one of the accounts having US$681 million was closed on Aug 30, 2013 when the money was all used up. If not, where is the RM2.6 billion?
FairMind: So was the RM2.6 billion transferred to Najib's account or not? Two accounts in the name of Najib mean nothing. It can be his saving account held for his two under-aged grandsons. Please be specific.
If you already have the bank statements, then it is easy to confirm whether the RM2.6 billion was transferred to Najib’s personal bank accounts.
Now assuming if the RM2.6 billion was really in Najib's accounts, then how were the money used?
Hmmmmmmmm: The 1MDB issue was exposed months ago and only now they decided to raid the offices. I suspect all tell-tale documents would have been hidden or destroyed by now. I don't think we should waste any more of our taxpayers' money.
Birdseye: The WSJ report mentioned the closure of the account(s) after all the money was withdrawn.
If the task force does a professional job (I repeat, if), the banks concerned can certainly reproduce the movements in the accounts. Transactions must be kept for a certain number of years. Any bank clerk can tell you that.
Unfortunately for all truth seekers, the fix may already be in. The "not for personal gain" concept is straight out of the playbook. Remember the Sabah chief minister who got off scot free using this defence?
Thinking Citizen_1403620863: Bank Negara has the power to ask the bank to produce the statements on the bank accounts that has been closed for investigation purposes.
Swipenter: Firstly, was the money transferred into his private and personal accounts?
Secondly, who did the transfers? Thirdly, isn't the task force interested as to where and whom the money went to notwithstanding the closing of the accounts? We are not getting the truth of the matter.
All this skimping at periphery of the real issue is just a distraction and sideshow put hopefully to placate us. Fat hopes.
Debater: The rot is too deep. Najib is just a superficial symptom of our political system's malaise. The Bank Negara senior staff are either inept or in cahoots. Either way they should resign or be fired.
