With DAP lawmaker Tony Pua being one of 1MDB's fiercest critics, a minister has now taken the opportunity to pose two questions to him.
Abdul Rahman Dahlan wants to know if Pua had met Xavier Andre Jutso before.
Justo is the former employee of PetroSaudi International who was arrested in Thailand recently for allegedly attempting to blackmail his ex-employer.
The Malaysian government has claimed that Justo had tampered the leaked emails but detractors have accused the authorities of using this argument to shield 1MDB.
Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had alleged that several Malaysians requested the Swiss national to tamper with the emails.
"Seeing his spirited defence of Sarawak Report , I'd like to ask if Tony Pua has ever met Claire Rewcastle or Justo? A 'yes' or 'no' answer will do," Tweeted Abdul Rahman.
Rewcastle heads the whistleblower website Sarawak Report , which has published a slew of reports based on the leaked emails.
"My second question to Pua is, will he reconfirm that the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will investigate the allegation that 'RM42 billion is missing?'" asked Abdul Rahman.
"I hope Pua will respond to my two easy questions speedily," added the housing, local government and urban wellbeing minister.
Pua ( photo ) is also a member of the PAC, which is currently looking into the 1MDB issue to determine if there has been any wrongdoing.
Show-case letter
Apart from Sarawak Report , the government has also targeted financial daily The Edge over its reports on 1MDB based on the leaked emails.
The Home Ministry has slapped the daily with a show-cause letter, alleging that it has sown confusion over the matter.
The Edg e has stood firm with regard to its reports, and requested the ministry to detail which articles were the subject of scrutiny.
Quizzed on this today, Zahid replied: "We are of the opinion that if you eat chillies, you will feel the heat, so there is no need to ask us which articles had involved information that was untrue."
His response elicited a sarcastic Tweet from a fellow Umno man and former deputy minister Saifuddin Abdullah ( photo ).
"Home Ministry sends a show-cause letter to The Edge on false reporting regarding 1MDB. The Edge responds asking the ministry to detail the reports considered erroneous.
"Minister answers: Those who eat chillies, will feel the heat. If this is the case, then it is simple: Can charge anyone in court without clear evidence," he said.
There has also been speculation on whether the dragnet would reach former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who is also a staunch critic of both 1MDB and Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
