The school where a teacher joked about non-Muslims pupils drinking urine was hit with a Molotov cocktail last night.
The incident at Sekolah Kebangsaan Ibrahim in Sungai Petani, Kedah, occurred about 10pm yesterday.
The homemade fire bomb was thrown towards the compound of the school and it landed on the wall near the security post at the school entrance, according to The Star Online .
The report said no one was injured in the incident and police are investigating the matter.
On Monday, a complaint letter from a group of non-Muslims parents against a teacher was circulated online.
The letter claimed the teacher forbade non-Muslim students from drinking in front of their Muslim peers.
The teacher allegedly added that non-Muslim students could drink water in the toilet or their own urine there.
Deputy Education Minister P Kamalanathan ( photo ) later said he was informed that the teacher, who is a senior assistant in charge of students' affairs, had said it in jest.
However Kamalanathan said the joke was in bad taste and called it "unacceptable".
Two men arrested by police
Meanwhile, Bernama reported that police have arrested two men after the fire sparked by the Molotov cocktail last night damaged the guardhouse of the primary school.
Kedah CID chief ACP Mohd Nashir Ya said the men, in their 20s and 30s, were from Sungai Petani and that the incident occurred at 9.50pm.
"We are investigating the motive for the incident," Nashir said in a statement, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code for causing mischief by fire or explosive substance.
Police reports were also lodged after the senior assistant teacher of the school was said to have ordered non-Muslim pupils to drink their own urine last Tuesday.
