Johor's crown prince has reminded the country's politicians that they serve the people, not the ideologies of their parties.
In a Facebook posting today, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim also urged them to set aside differences and respect one another even if they did not agree on every issue.
"Let us recognise that we do not serve an ideology of a political party; we serve the people," the prince wrote.
His posts comes in the wake of Pakatan Rakyat's dissolution and continued war of words between PAS and DAP.
Tunku Ismail has become a cause célèbre on the Internet after he mocked Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak for not turning up at the "Nothing2Hide" dialogue.
"How can you have a dialogue called 'Nothing2Hide' featuring a person who has everything to hide?
"Obviously he won't show up," Tunku Ismail had said in a June 5 posting on the Johor Southern Tigers Facebook page, the re-branded name of the Johor football team under his leadership.
He has also taken on Tourism and Culture Minister Nazri Abdul Aziz, reminding the minister that he was not a deity, and was responsible to the people.
Besides politics, the crown prince has also been an ardent critic of Malaysian football, gaining support from fans frustrated over the country's faltering standards in the game.
