FREE PAS central committee member Nik Abduh Nik Aziz, who is challenging incumbent Suhaizan Kaiat for the position of PAS Youth chief has rejected an invitation for a debate with his contender.
"I thank those who want to hold debates and forums, it is a good effort.
"But I prefer the better way, which is to remain silent for now as this is a contest among ourselves and our intentions are the same, just with different leadership.
"I prefer (the format of) the (party) election to be as it was before, which is to look at our respective track records," he was quoted saying in a Sinar TV video yesterday.
He added how either candidate is going to steer the party can be decided after the party election.
He was responding to an invitation by Johor PAS to host a debate between Suhaizan and Nik Abduh for the upcoming contest next month.
Suhaizan agreed to the debate last Thursday.
The straight fight for the PAS Youth chief post is seen as a battle between the progressive faction in the wing led by Suhaizan and the ulama (religious scholar) faction led by Nik Abduh.
