Suhailah Mohamad Noah, widow of Malaysia's third prime minister Hussein Onn, and mother of Defence Minister Hishammuddin passed away today.

According to a statement from the Defence Ministry's office, Suhailah breathed her last breath at KPJ Damansara Specialist Hospital in Petaling Jaya, of old age.

She was 82. Her remains is to be brought home to Bukit Tunku in Kuala Lumpur.

She was then laid to rest at the Heroes Mausoleum at the National Mosque.

Her remains were brought in an armed forces hearse to the mosque at about noon from her residence.    

Prime Minister Najib Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor attended the funeral at the Heroes Mausoleum.

Earlier he expressed condolences on his Facebook account, saying he shared in the grief over the loss of Suhailah, who is his aunt.     

"I was shocked at the news of the passing of my aunt, Suhailah Mohd Noah, the mother of Hishammuddin Hussein, early today.      

"My condolences to Hishammuddin Hussein and family; I share in the grief. Praying for the repose of her soul. Al-Fatihah," he wrote.
