YOURSAY ‘Is Azmin more important than PKR and Pakatan Rakyat?’
S'gor MB confirms Anwar to run for Kajang
Badass: No politicians in their right minds would call for by-elections at their whim and fancy with the hefty cost incurred, not just administratively by the Election Commission but also the parties involved whilst campaigning, what more when we are talking about Pakatan Rakyat politicians here, who do not have resource readily at their expense unlike their BN counterpart.
I for one do not think that PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim is foolish enough to challenge the status quo that the opposition currently enjoy in the state of Selangor, simply for the sake of bagging more titles or to deal with comparatively 'pettier' issues at state seat level like dealing with issues of massage parlours.
With the great stakes that Anwar is putting on the table as well as the amount of backlash that he must have reasonably foreseen, I am convinced that he is doing the right thing for not just Selangorians but Malaysians in general.
Let's face it that the political impasse between PKR deputy president Azmin Ali and Selangor MB Abdul Khalid Ibrahim has to be resolved once and for all, if we are all setting our eyes on the big picture which is Putrajaya.
I can't imagine who else would be more fitting in that sense to end the bickering between Azmin and Khalid, authoritatively speaking.
Khalid is well-loved by the people for being the breath of fresh air who cleared the filth and vileness of corruption by former MB Mohamad Khir Toyo, but let's face it that we can't reasonably sing the same old song in GE14, can we?
Integrity alone is not enough now that Pakatan is administering for the second term, it is about time that we add economic breakthroughs and substantial performance into the picture.
With Anwar in place, he could now directly champion the reforms needed and his governance will be monitored and used as the best performance indicator of his leadership capabilities, levelled against the federal government. I say we have until GE14 to judge and decide for ourselves.
Third Eye: A by-election just for the sake of Azmin? Is Azmin more important than PKR and Pakatan?
Isa@1penyu: Is this not a waste of public funds forced by greed and ego and nothing else? Having an election after just six months simply shows that even for one term, Pakatan can’t run the state properly.
JMC: Is Anwar taking over as Selangor MB? If he does, is it the right move? It may not be so, but the right political strategy at this given time when there are moves to topple the Pakatan rule in Selangor and Penang.
The ongoing religious tension in these two states is aimed to achieve that and can result in the collapse of Pakatan rule in Selangor if no firm action is taken now.
What is in Anwar's mind only he knows, but it is time for him to show his political skills to stop the bombardment by Umno. It is now or never.
OZ: I personally favoured the present MB Abdul Khalid to hold on to the MB’s post because he has managed the state professionally. No other persons can effectively replace him, even Anwar.
Anonymous_1387287912: As this by-election will not affect the Selongor state government, I urge Kajang voters to vote out PKR candidate this time to teach them a lesson so that they will not act in such manner again in future.
Adsertor: Since PKR cannot get their act together, Pakatan should consider giving PAS a shot as MB of Selangor.
Ksn: Anwar, what happened to you, and what is happening? Abdul Khalid is not a politician - he is a corporate figure and he has done well for Selangor. Anwar, have you now put your sights on something lower? Or are you doing this for your die-hard assistant?
Abdul Khalid, remember that in politics there are no permanent friends and permanent enemies. It is a matter of opportunism for selfish ends, not that you are really bothered about the MB's job.
JustaMalaysian: Excellent strategy, Pakatan. Abdul Khalid and Azmin must stay together. Umno was hoping to throw a spanner in Pakatan’s works using the personality clash between the two of them.
With this plan, Umno has been outmanoeuvred unless they can use the sultan to block Anwar's appointment as MB if he wins. But to do so will make the sultan look bad before the public eye and for going against the choice of the people.
Tell the Truth: Unless Anwar explains to the other partners in Pakatan and then to the people of Kajang, Anwar will for once lose in an election, albeit a by-election.
People are not so stupid as to tolerate your internal fighting. PAS has rightly declared that they will not participate in the by-election. Don’t use this by-election to resolve your internal problem.
I am aghast with this move by PKR. You are regressing instead of progressing.
Changeagent: This is a bloody circus, Anwar. You better have a good excuse for the Kajang voters. If you don't, I hope they vote you out just because PKR has taken the Kajang seat for granted.
This has absolutely nothing to do with optimising Pakatan's performance in the state. You are not going to gain an additional seat in Selangor, just putting one Pakatan seat at risk. I sure hope as hell you know what you are doing.
Hcleong: Even if Anwar wins, I hope he will not take over Abdul Khalid's MB post. Worse, if the Selangor sultan rejects Anwar as the new MB, the whole "tactical plan" will put the state government at great risk. Learn from the Perak experience.
Alia: With the current economic problems that we face, maybe it's better for Anwar to be Selangor MB while Abdul Khalid be positioned as PM-in-waiting.
