VOXPOP 'This has got nothing to do with insulting Islam. From the report, these are just a bunch of druggies trying to capitalise on a situation.'
Abducted youth denies 'insulting any religion'
Not Confused: It's becoming clearer every day that this country is infested with twisted, fanatical individuals who will carry out actions like the kidnapping of Ng Mun Tatt (the 21-year-old cybercafe cashier who had ‘Saya hina Islam' (I insulted Islam)' scrawled on his torso by his abductors).
They are emboldened by some of the brainless idiots in the government who continue to play the wounded Muslims game, trying to drive a wedge between the Muslims and non-Muslims.
Couple this with the pathetic record of the PDRM (Royal Malaysia Police) in solving crime generally, and these cretins feel they can do anything and get away with it (and generally do).
With BN continuing to ruin Malaysia, I see no end to this spiral, or the continued corruption and abuse of power in high places. I'm really feel sad for Malaysians generally because their future is dire indeed.
Anonymous #68219004: This has got nothing to do with insulting Islam. From the report, these are just a bunch of druggies trying to capitalise on a situation.
They should be found guilty and be send to the gallows for taking drugs, kidnapping, ransom and assault. Time for the police and attorney-general to charge these misfits of society.
Bravemalaysian: The IGP should be arrested for rumour-mongering that could have resulted in racial disharmony. He is an absolute disgrace and should be in the circus rather than head the honourable police force.
I am sure many police personnel are embarrassed by this rather silly IGP.
Swipenter: Are we seeing that some of those who belong to a certain faith beginning to believe and think that despite misusing their religion to commit a wrong, they have immunity from the law?
Perhaps they are learning from living examples and the double standards practiced by the authorities.
TehTarik: It will be foolhardy for foreign-based Malaysian talent to return home, especially with the escalating crime. Not only is crime more rampant, it also appears to be getting more violent.
No day goes without another story of a brutal crime. There are bands of snatch thieves, robbers, kidnappers who are patrolling the streets of the nation. And police officers are no where to be seen.
Anonymous #84319416: In every race, there will be a few who are extremists. There are also some extremists among politicians too. Malaysians should make sure that there is no place for such extremists in Malaysia.
Khairy: Kuala Besut may affect Najib's position
Sali Tambap: This is a prophetic utterance from KJ (Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin), not much different from the high priest Caiphas when he said Jesus must die.
Yes, the Kuala Besut result could very well determine the fate of PM Najib Razak. Lose it, BN would spiral into a downfall. A state election in Terengganu due to a state government stalemate would cause dominoes affect in other states as well.
The recent GE13 was an unfinished business. The real outcome of this election has not manifest yet.
KJ has reason to be desperate but sympathy votes on account of Najib, the BN will not get because he is a lame duck PM who cannot get things done anyway.
Onyourtoes: Well said, KJ. But earlier, I have also said never in history so few people in Kuala Besut are given so much stake to decide on the destiny of Terengganu and perhaps this country as well.
In the May 5 general election, they did not know that. Now they do. Hence, how they are going to exercise their votes will be very different.
Apparently the Terengganu MB still can't see it. When accused of giving valuable state lands to elected MPs and former MPs and Aduns, his answer was "so what?" , it was according to procedures.
Amalgam: Of what good is a vote for Najib if he cannot even ensure that there is racial harmony in the country?
Right now, since he rushed to swear in as PM, he has not uttered any word that can assure all Malaysians that he is the PM for all Malaysians and to tell the various NGOs/groups to stop raising the race issue as in the case of Rowena, daughter of his good friend, Abdul Razak Baginda, on minority rule .
Khairy, we know he put you in to garner a stronger base in Umno. If you want to be future PM, please use your intellect and be a fair and upright MP.
You have so much more up there than the favoured son of Dr Mahathir Mohamad. Change your outlook and your words to reflect the truth.
Tehachapi: How can Umno and BN command global respect and inspire public confidence if the government is so fragile and could fall any moment with a loss of one or two seats in a by-election.
We can expect endless political posturing for the next few years. Nothing substantive will get accomplished, but there will be a whole lot of hot air, fiery speeches, marches and condemnations of this and that.
All a waste of time as far as national development is concerned.
FellowMalaysian: KJ is young, energetic and all eager to prove his worth after (finally) becoming a minister since May. However, youth is also his weakest forte and in the arena of gutless politics, experience is what that matters in deciding winners or losers.
The people of Kuala Besut are simple ‘kampung' folks and they either fish in the waters off the coast or farm in small plots of land for a living. Their immediate concern is their livelihood - whether the catch for the day is enough to buy them the day's meals for the family.
What Najib does in Kuala Lumpur and how he fares seldom cross their minds as their daily routine pre-occupies their thoughts. KJ's cajoling hoping to win over the voters in Kuala Besut by portraiting Najib as an all-too-important commodity to lose, will simply not work.
I believe I know the folks in Kuala Besut well enough as I spent three years as an engineer handling a state-government project there in the late 80s.
SpongeBob: Looking for sympathy votes? Have you run out of goodies? Or have the rakyat come to their senses? Don't play victim.
