RCI must probe the masterminds behind Project M

YOURSAY 'Although there was no specific term of reference on who gave the orders, the investigation must include those who gave the clandestine and illegal instructions.'

Eight things to know about the Sabah RCI

your say Onyourtoes: The No 3 terms of reference of the Sabah RCI (royal commission of inquiry) - to investigate whether this (the granting of blue ICs, birth certificates and temporary receipts) was done legally - must include whether instructions given by the higher authorities were done according to established procedures and regulations.

Therefore, although there was no specific term of reference on who gave the orders, the investigation must include those who gave the clandestine and illegal instructions.

If we can't do this, may I suggest we shut down the RCI right now. What is the point of proceeding further?

Ourvotesdecide!: Sabahans, Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (Upko) and Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS), you all better be careful not to be cheated again by Umno-BN through this RCI which as the days go by seems not to lead anywhere to uncover the whole truth as to what have had happened.

Firstly, the RCI's very limited terms of reference already protected the masterminds of the scam.

Secondly, the conducting officers have appeared to self-censured themselves by not asking the questions which will expose the masterminds. Thirdly, the RCI hearings and written findings will only be completed after the 13th general election.

These are all deliberately planned for one purpose - to dupe Sabahans. PM Najib Razak's strategy is to set up the RCI as demanded by the Sabahans to please them, but make sure the terms of reference are limited and questions asked during the hearings will not exposed the masterminds involved.

Swipenter: I would also add that the Altantuyu Shaariibuu murder trial is also similar to this RCI in that they were not just interested to find out who gave the order to have her killed and C4-ed.

They were only interested in the two faceless pawns who carried out the murder - a murder without a motive.

Why they deem it not essential and not necessary to investigate who gave the orders is baffling. It is like saying, "Yes, this illegal operation happened and it is not important to know the masterminds behind it; just knowing that it happened would suffice."

This is akin to investigating a crime without bothering to catch the real criminal responsible for the crime.

This is RCI is not a complete eyewash but it is close to one. See the similarities in Lingamgate and Teoh Beng Hock RCIs.

At the end of the day, no one is held accountable and responsible for the crimes committed against the country, the judiciary and rakyat.

OMG!!: By the time the RCI completed its investigations and publish its report, GE13 would be over and the truth would never be told.

Right-minded Malaysians, especially Sabahans, whose rights are enshrined in the 20-point Malaysia Agreement and the federal constitution, especially their democratic rights to choose the government of their choice and their absolute control over immigration, must boot out this treacherous government at GE13 to right this mother of all evils.

Anonymous#007: While all the attention - albeit deserving - is on the RCI, let us not turn a blind eye to the influx on Burmese refugees/immigrants in this country.

I am all for settling genuine refugees, but care has to be taken that it will not become a political tool. Like other host countries, we need to have strict vetting procedures to ensure:

i) they are not fleeing their country to avoid criminal prosecution,

ii) they are not members of any religious or terrorist groups which promotes or condones ethnic or religious violence,

iii) they understand and respect the multi-ethnic, multi-religious nature of the Malaysian society, and

iv) they can contribute to the betterment of Malaysia and the Malaysian society.

Sarajun Hoda: I was in Kota Kinabalu in 1980 to 1981 and had personally met many Pakistanis who claimed they got blue ICs within months in Sabah.

They said then CM Haris Salleh was a Pakistani decedent and he easily gave Pakistanis citizenship to all Pakistanis who asked for it.

I was in Pakistan saw many Pakistanis holding Malaysian passports who came for renewal (at the Malaysian High Commission). I was told by someone that there was a village not far from Peshawar, where more than half the villagers held Malaysian passports although they could not speak Malay.

I met one fully dressed as a Pathan with long beard a few years ago at the Pakistan High Commission in Kuala Lumpur with a Malaysian passport who was there to apply Pakistan visa to go home. He didn't speak a word of Malay.

This was my personal experience, long before people spoke about this scam. Thousands of Pakistanis with Sabah ICs now live around the Peninsular selling carpets/clothes, some owning big businesses.

The police know but don't take action because they have been good 'cows' to milk.

Gunner: In the final analysis, the RCI should recommend the government to confer an honorary to Mahathir as ‘Bapa Pendatang Tanpa Izin Diberi KP'.

Do we have an illegitimate gov't in power?
