INTERVIEW How does one justify the deaths of 3,000 innocent people? For many across the globe who watched the destruction on Sept 11, 2001, there is little that can be justified.

Not for Yazid Sufaat - husband, father, retired army captain, entreprenuer and, according to a United Nations list, part-funder of the al-Qaeda attacks that brought down the World Trade Centre in New York.

While he denies the terrorist label, the UN says Yazid had in October 2000 met Zacarias Mousaoui - who was in 2006 sentenced to life imprisonment by a court in the US for planning the 9/11 attacks - and gave him at least US$35,000 to prepare for the attacks...
