Make July 9 a 'Yellow Day'

your say 'See you there, Umno Youth. All citizens must support Bersih for the betterment of Malaysia. I was at Bersih 1 and will be at Bersih 2.'

Another call to unleash ISA on Bersih organisers

Soap Opra: There are more and more calls for government to use the draconian ISA against Bersih demonstrators based on the assumption that they will create havoc during the rally, despite that Bersih had time and again said that the event will be a peaceful one.

But no one had even dare to suggest that ISA be used against Perkasa even though Ibrahim Ali had implied that his counter-demonstration could turn violent. This is an obvious example that if you are against BN, you will be perceived of breaking the law in whatever you do.

Cinaputra: The peace and unity in the country is under threat by the BN regime by the way things are allowed to go on. Polarisation is allowed to flourish and so is religious bigotry.

Upright and loyal citizens are referred to as pendatang . Utusan Malaysia is allowed to publish seditious articles with impunity. There is rampant and blatant corruption by government leaders and their cronies, bleeding the country dry. The judiciary and other government institutions are being compromised, and the list goes on and on.

The electoral process favours the government of the day so that they can continue to remain in power. Why shouldn't we rally for free and fair elections?

If BN thinks it is doing a good job why are they so afraid and so against this rally. You have to hear the people who have elected you. You suppress them at your own peril.

Wira: Get this right, people. Bersih does not support opposition parties. Opposition parties support Bersih because they support the good cause of this multiracial NGO. Umno or any BN party can also support Bersih by supporting its noble cause. Instead, they choose to support the racist Perkasa.

James Dean: Why do the government have to threaten Bersih organisers with ISA when they are just exercising their constitutional rights?

The failure of the police to issue the gathering with a permit is against the constitution. In fact, the police must ensure that the Bersih gathering be protected from the provocateurs. Anything short of that is a failure on the part of the police in maintaining law and order.

This Bersih gathering is not a national threat but a threat to the BN government.

Zubir: Berani kerana benar. Tak kacau, tak akan kecoh!

Bersih welcomes Umno Youth rally

Josephine: With a firm hold on the Election Commission, it is laughable that Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin has raised concerns over allegations that opposition parties are "transferring voters".

The opposition which is the state government in Selangor and Kedah, could not even get past the EC to hold by-election for seats which are declared vacant under the respective state constitution.

With the allegations of gerrymandering and alleged election frauds, I would not be surprise that Umno Youth supports the present electoral process. BN would not want to change a thing when the system is working well for them.

Buffalo_Bill: This is the best thing that can happen for Bersih 2.0. So now the taxi drivers got a hell-of-a-job trying to determine who caused them to lose their income for the day. Well done, Umno Youth and Perkasa.

Your so-called brilliant plan may yet again be a blunder like every other scheme you throw at the opposition.

Anti Segala Dosa: Why didn't Perkasa or Umno Youth never thought of holding rally before? Only when someone does it, you want to do it.

FellowMalaysian: The purpose of Perkasa and Umno Youth's 'participation' is to cause chaos and pandemonium and to create fear among would-be protestors in this Bersih 2.0 rally. Why else would they want to lift their heavy butts and rally for a good cause?

I will go buy the yellow T-shirt and rest assured of my attendance in the July 9 rally. They will not intimidate concerned citizens who are horrified with the prejudiced manner the EC has conducted many past general elections.

Let the people speak out, Mr Prime Minister. How long can you suppress their voices?

Lonestar: Umno Youth has the right to march and so has Bersih 2.0 and Perkasa. Let us see what the Home Ministry and police will do. Let there be no bias. Respect all our right to demonstrate. Wisdom must previal.

Clearwater: Make July 9 a ‘yellow day'. Wear something yellow that day to show support for free and fair elections.

Akucina: See you there, Umno Youth. All citizens must support Bersih for the betterment of Malaysia. I was at Bersih 1 and will be at Bersih 2.

Hibiscus: Umno Youth is a good sport. It will do well for those oldies in Umno to heed the wisdom of Khairy if they are not to lose badly in the next GE, for Umno Youth's attitude represents the young who will not tolerate being dictated to.

The young want to engage in debate and be given freedom of expression. They will not be cowed by intimidation and bullying or follow leaders blindly. Let July 9 be a day of fun and carnival for Malaysians. They need to relieve their many frustrations.

To the police, your best option is to enable the rally to proceed but keep it under control. So cooperate with the rally organisers.

Arresting the marchers or shooting water cannons or beating them up will only make things worse for your already tattered reputation and for the BN government.

Douglas Tan 25b2: Everyone, please park your cars on the outskirts and watch the chaos unfold in KL.
