'Get Najib' plot to promote Ku Li, claims RPK

When the shit hits the fan, you can be sure Raja Petra Kamaruddin will drag as many personalities as needed into the mess to protect himself.

In his latest blog posting, entitled just that - ‘Now that the shit has hit the fan' - the controversial blogger and webmaster of the immensely popular Malaysia Today unleashed yet another bombshell by implicating one of Umno's stalwart figures, a venerated member of Malaysia's aristocracy.

NONE Raja Petra ( right ) was reported yesterday of having accused people close to top politicians - including opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim - of being behind the accusations against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak of being involved in the October 2006 murder of Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu.

Apparently, the motivation driving the accusations - which also implicated the premier's wife Rosmah Mansor - was to prevent the then deputy prime minister Najib from succeeding Abdullah Ahmad Badawi as prime minster.

Today Raja Petra named former Umno vice-president and one-time finance minister Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah as being the intended beneficiary of the plot to ‘get Najib'.

"The whole objective of this exercise was to block Najib Razak from taking over as prime minister. If Abdullah Ahmad Badawi can be forced to resign, and if Najib can be blocked from taking over, then Tengku Razaleigh could become the next prime minister."

A day after his interview with TV3 group editor Ashraf Abdullah was aired on several major television stations that saw him disclaim any responsibility for the accusations against Najib and Rosmah, Raja Petra revealed on his blog today that a large meeting was actually held in Tengku Razaleigh's office to discuss the plot to block Najib's path to the top government post.

"About 30 people attended the ‘meeting-cum-buka puasa'. A few Umno bloggers such as Big Dog and so on were there. PKR people like Adlan Benan Omar and Rafizi Ramli also came... The purpose of this meeting was to explore how it can be engineered so that Tengku Razaleigh can take over as prime minister."

Long time ambition, now dragged in

tengku razaleigh hamzah 270908 While Tengku Razaleigh ( left ) - known more popularly as Ku Li - has long been known to have aimed at being prime minister, this is the first time his name has been dragged into the Altantuya controversy.

In his posting, Raja Petra - long regarded as one of Malaysia's icon of anti-BN cyber-activism - reiterated his innocence of the claims against Najib and Rosmah over the murder case.

In a statutory declaration (SD) made before leaving secretly for the UK, the activist had said he had only received information from people purporting Rosmah as having been present at the place when Altantuya was murdered.

He also reiterated his call for those people to come forward or, alternatively, for the authorities to investigate those people over the claims contained in his SD.

"In that SD of mine, I recounted how there were these people who had informed (me) of these things. Let those people come and tell their story. The authorities should investigate and call these people. That's what I said in the SD.

"I myself did not raise any accusations. I did not say know that the wife of the then deputy prime minister was at the scene of the incident. I did not say that. I did not make the accusation. What I said was there were people who told me this, but it depends on the authorities to investigate this further and for those people to come forward.

"I mentioned the names of these people. I mentioned them during the interrogation by the police," he said according to TV3's transcript of the interview, which was recorded in Perth, Australia.

Allegations of evidence destroyed

These people included one Lt Kol Azmi Zainal Abidin, Ku Li's former employees Nik Azmi Nik Daud and John Pang, and Din Merican of the PKR.

In the interview with Ashraf, Raja Petra said he no longer accepts the storyline pushed by these persons.

"I don't believe the story any more. Because I feel, maybe it's impossible. How could the wife of the prime minister been at that place (the scene of Altantuya's  murder), as that place is in the middle of the forest. I thought, ‘would she climb to such a high ground, enter the forest in the middle of the night, midnight? I thought that must be impossible."

Since these revelations have been aired on national television, said Raja Petra, it's now incumbent upon the authorities to own up to the need to call in those people who had dragged him into the affair but have now denied any responsibility.

altantuya and son 050309 Pang for example, has since left for CIMB Jakarta, "and we all know who owns CIMB," said Raja Petra in indirectly referring to the bank's chief executive officer Nazir Razak - Najib's brother.

Nik Azmi, meanwhile, claims that the file containing the ‘confidential military intelligence report' that allegedly proved Rosmah's presence at the scene where Altantuya  ( right ) was killed "has been shredded."

"The report no longer exists. In fact, the entire file no longer exists," said Raja Petra.

Suddenly, he added, everyone who was part of the conspiracy to block Najib from taking over has now abandoned him and left him out in the cold.

Since the authorities did not act on the allegations when he first published the SD, perhaps they will now after his claims have been aired on national television stations, said Raja Petra.

"TV3 gave me that opportunity to tell the story, I have always maintained it but no one appeared to be listening. Suddenly everyone is listening, thanks to TV3.

"Sometimes we need a storm to get people's attention. Maybe now the police will do what I have been asking them to do these last three years: that is, investigate my statutory declaration and ascertain the truth behind what Lt Kol Azmi Zainal Abidin alleged.

"Now you know what my TV3 interview was all about."
