MUNICH - Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad arrived in Germany Monday for a four-day visit focusing on the war against terrorism as well as bilateral trade, officials here said.
Mahathir arrived in the southern city of Munich, where he is to meet later Monday with Edmund Stoiber, minister-president of the southern state of Bavaria and the opposition candidate for chancellor in national elections in September.
The two men are to discuss economic relations between Malaysia and Bavaria, Germany's most prosperous state.
On Wednesday in Berlin, Mahathir is to meet Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder as well as Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer.
Mahathir came to Germany after a visit to Russia where he said Friday that there was a "fair chance" his country would order the Russian Sukhoi SU-30 fighter plane in order to boost its defence capability.
Mahathir is accompanied by government representatives and Malaysian business leaders.
He leaves Berlin Thursday for Warsaw.
