‘For Muhyiddin to only tick off the newspaper gives the perception that Umno and its daily are doing a good-cop-bad-cop sandiwara with the DPM trying to score cookie points with the ‘pendatang'.
On DPM ticks off Utusan over racial slant
Lim Chong Leong: I must express my disappointment that Umno has not taken action against its newspaper Utusan for its racially slanted report against ‘the others' and the ‘pendatangs'.
For Muhyiddin to only tick off the newspaper without penalising the paper or its editors will only give the perception that Umno and its daily are doing a ‘good cop-bad cop' sandiwara with the DPM trying to score some cookie points with the ‘pendatang'.
If the DPM's regret is sincere, then serious action must be taken against the newspaper or its editors with severity as if it were the opposition which committed the offence.
This is because what Utusan did was criminal.
Sang Kancil: The DPM's comment on Awang Selamat's article is just another sandiwara directed by BN.
Rightfully, Awang Selamat should be sacked and Utusan Malaysia should be suspended indefinitely.
But Umno/BN government will not do that because of their vested interest. The rakyat is not stupid to belive the DPM's ‘cerita dongeng'.
Patriotic Malaysian: Irrespective of ethnic background and from a true patriotic Malaysian point of view, the editor of Utusan Malaysia should be charged under Sedition Act for instilling racial incitement in his article.
I am not sure whether he is trying to gain personal fame but if that was the case, then he had misused the media to fulfill his dream.
We are all Malaysians acting as One Malaysian. We see ourselves as Malaysians first. We drink ‘teh tarik'and eat breakfast, lunch and dinner together.
For goodness sake, don't instil racial resentment among the races.
Aloysius Ting: Would the DPM now suspend Utusan Malaysia or will the editor be given a ‘show cause letter' as to why they should continue publishing the daily?
Ong: Muhyiddin Yassin expressed disappointment with Umno-owned Malay daily Utusan Malaysia for publishing articles with a racial slant.
At the same press interview he expressed his backing for Veteran Soldiers of Malaysia Association who made a strong call to not allow ex-communist leader Chin Peng and who even advocated that: ‘People who call for his return and support communism should be shot dead".
The call by Veteran Soldiers of Malaysia Association is definitely racially tainted because this association did not object to the return of all the Malay communist leaders but now objects vehemently to the return of Chin Peng who is ethnic Chinese.
Looks like he can't even be consistent at the same press interview.
On Zaid torches Utusan for stoking racial flames
John Johnson: Well said, Zaid. I, for one, have seen how far we have come. My dad used to toil the soil for 30 over years to plant food for us to survive in Malaysia.
He was from India. He worked in the platations and in the private sector too. He died giving us everything he had. He was a great dad and so was my mom.
But they never got rich or prospered in an Umno-dominated country. Still, they were always happy with what they had.
Today, I am well educated and so are my brothers and sisters and we will not tolerate racial statements or people who stoke racial flames in this country.
I love my country but I detest the government that is ruling this nation. As long as we have people like this person in Utusan writing garbage, we will not overcome our prejudices.
Syabas to the government of Malaysia for instilling a Gestapo-style of government.
On Dr M calls for immunity for graft whistleblowers
Ong: He could have easily enacted a law to protect whistle blowers when he was PM but he did not.
After all, gigantic-scale corruption started during his time as PM. The former prime minister has become a comedian, and a very good one too.
On Vote of confidence dare for 'sour grapes' Najib
Peter Ooi: As expected BN will downgrade PKR's victory in Penanti. Najib spoke without shame that Penanti's win was not a measurement of Pakatan's popularity.
He really sounded silly. In the first case, he should have fielded a candidate to gauge the opposition's strength.
By giving a walkover, he already conceded that PKR was overwhelmingly popular among the people.
Anyway, a victory is a victory. This victory was won fair and square by PKR - no hanky-panky and one hundred percent clean.
Unlike the three seats robbed by BN in Perak. Those assembly persons were awaiting corruption charges. How can you be so proud of those dubious assemblymen?
By any measure PKR should be very proud of Penanti seat which is legitimate.
On Manohara: I was treated like an animal
John Johnson: Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the Malaysian government does not want to get involved in the case.
‘I think this is more of a personal matter. We should not be dragged into this situation so we want to just leave it as it is,' he told reporters.
What a joke - ‘this is a personal matter' it seems. I am very sure that he is so afraid his own people will charge him for ‘derhaka'.
When it comes to PPP, Murugiah and Kavveas, he says he will interfere as it tarnishes the name of Umno; what a joke.
Here we have the episode which might or might not be true. But don't you think it is the public's right to know how our rulers and their siblings behave in this country.
After all its our tax payers money that they are enjoying. This is Malaysia Boleh.
Let's just sweep up all the dirt and garbage and stuff it under the carpet where no one can see.
On 'She left with prince's consent'
My View: Businessman Mohd Soberi Shafii might say that the Kelantan prince ‘had no problems' with Manohara leaving for home.
I personally doubt that. If he ‘had no problems' then why did the girl leave from Singapore and not Kelantan?
Some more, after I listened to her radio interview here , I don't think the girl left with prince's consent.
Come on Malaysia, you can do better.
On BN MP apologises to Husam over false claims
Song: The PDRM has been said to be partisan toward Umno and the BN for quite a while, arresting only opposition politicians and supporters while letting Umno/BN politicians and their supporters off the hook.
Well dearest IGP, now you have the opportunity to redeem the 'good name' of PDRM.
I would like to advise the IGP to read the report above. If it is true that Nozula had made such a false report in November 2007 together with the assemblyman of Bukit Bunga, Muhd Adhan Kechik, I believe both of them have committed an offence under the Penal Code.
I need not mention the section here because I truly believe the IGP is well-versed with the provisions of the Penal Code.
So Mr IGP, here's is your chance to show the citizens of Malaysia (and the world) that the PDRM is not beholden to any political master (be it Umno/BN or PR) and it is capable of doing it's job without fear or favour.
For the sake of the PDRM and our beloved nation, please seize this opportunity, arrest them, open up an investigation paper (IP) and if you have enough evidence, prefer a charge against them.
For the judiciary, it will also do well if it could fix an early mention date (perhaps within 24 hours after the registration of the charge).
Instruct the AG's Chamber to immediately serve the defence team with the relevant documents so that an early trial date may be fixed.
This way the efficiency shown in Zambry's application for a stay of execution will not be seen as a 'one off' or a 'fluke' event but instead seen as the true capability of the judiciary's delivery system.
