VoxPop: PAS should work with Pakatan

vox populi big thumbnail ‘They should struggle with PKR and DAP to topple BN and govern our beloved country based on human rights, the rule of law and the supremacy of the constitution.'

On Mujahid: No one instigated me

S Vijay: When a pretty girl smiles at you, one might get the impression that she fancies you. But to her, she was just being polite.

So when many moderates and non-Muslims voted for PAS at the 2008 general elections and subsequent by-elections, PAS took it as a sign that they had given their stamp of approval to turn multi-racial Malaysia into a theocratic Islamic state a la Iran.

This is bolstered by the fact that PAS, until recently, had MBs in three out of the five PR states.

In reality, the moderates and non-Muslims were voting for any candidate ‘asalkan bukan BN'.

PAS now believes that it does not need its partners in PR to win elections and want to go for it alone as it intends to do in Penanti.

PAS hopes it can eventually gain enough seats in the state assemblies and eventually have enough numbers in the federal parliament to govern Malaysia as a theocracy.

I, and I believe many Malaysians, would urge PAS to not be ‘syok sendiri' as the term goes.

They should struggle with their comrades in PKR and DAP to topple the BN regime and govern our beloved country based on human rights, the rule of law and the supremacy of the constitution.

Please know that an Islamic state will never be accepted by the majority of the people.

On Penanti: Umno political bureau meets, no announcement yet

Appum: Honestly, I am really flabbergasted by all the news about waiting for Umno to decide on their candidate for Penanti.

Obviously this goes to show what the rakyat had perceived correctly -that Barisan Nasional is Umno and Umno is Barisan Nasional. Period.

Shouldn't it be that the candidate be decided by Barisan Nasional as a coalition and be perceived as a collective decision?

Even though Umno plays ‘tai kor' and monopolises all decisions in the coalition (behind closed doors), at least they should give face to the other component parties as part and parcel of a rightful coalition.

‘Muka mahu pun'. Hello, MCA, Gerakan, MIC etc, where do you all stand in the Barisan? Messenger boys for the Umnoputras only?

On ISA detainee Manoharan mulls resignation

Jahanam to BN!: Dear YB Manoharan,

You will feel more guilty over the 12,699 voters of Kota Alam Shah if you quit as their state assembly person.

The fact that Najib has chose to continue to incarcerate you is an indication that he has no intention to review the Internal Security Act (ISA).

Those who are not a threat to the BN were released, while people like you who have made a big impact on democracy in the country, he has continued to incarcerate.

Every day you spend in Kamunting is a stronger ‘no' to Barisan Nasional which has chosen to use such discriminatory laws against people who stand up for democracy.

The next general elections will be pay-back time for us.

JB Miranda: As a Selangor voter, I demand the resignation of Manoharan. We voted him in so that he could represent us, but he is sitting comfortable in Kamunting and not heeding the needs of his electorate.

The other alternative is for the government to heed the request of the rakyat and to release him unconditionally.

If the government will not do that, then Manoharan will have to do the honourable thing and quite as an elected representative.

But although BN will win with a resounding majority, Najib says he does not want to waste the rakyat's money.

Being a responsible steward of the nation's financial resources he will be magnanimous and declare that there is no need for a by-election as Manaoharan is no longer a threat to national security.

He will then and release him. What a great finance minister. Clap, clap.

On Remove all poorly-qualified medical doctors

Hopeful: Malaysia certainly has a good health service, though not up to the standard of developed countries. But we are certainly on the way.

I would just like to comment on the recruitment of doctors by the Health Ministry. I am told that it takes an average of five months for a doctor to start work in MOH from the date of applying.

If we have 1,000 new doctors joining the service, that means 5,000 man months lost.

I am sure it is possible for a new graduate to come with a degree and a letter from his university and after registering with the MOH, to start work the next day.

My nephew, a Malaysian, who graduated from the University of Melbourne. Even before the end of his final semester he was already given a posting to a hospital there.

On Pak Lah made adviser to MAS

Anderson Wong: I would like to say that Pak Lah is not a business leader. MAS does not need him as its CEO is capable of turning the company around.

All these ‘expired politicians' shouldn't be given any position in a public company or a GLC as it is waste of public money.

Maybe ‘expired politicians' should work for charity without pay if they still want to contribute to society.

Kumar Krish: Oh, no! What will happen to MAS? From a national carrier to a national disaster, for sure.
