The Barisan Nasional government cannot be trusted anymore. I am one of those millions who had placed high hopes on them in 2004 and cast my vote for BN so that they could lead the people and the country to be competitive globally.

During Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s tenure as the prime minister, the world came to know more about Malaysia. He was the man who propelled Malaysia to greater heights and whether you like it or not, the developments speak for themselves.

The baton was passed to his successor Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, and he, too, made Malaysia better known but for the wrong reasons. Recently, he claimed that he is the prime minister for all Malaysians but the way the police were directed to handle street demonstrations did not reflect his concern for the people.

Why do people take to the streets? It’s simple. Because the government is not listening to them and even the proper channels have switched off.. Sad to say, the prime minister is without quintessence.

DAP and PKR agreeing not to contest against each another has made the voters very happy. Since the Indians are the deciding factor in many constituencies, the opposotion front has definitely boosted its chances of winning. It is heartening to know now that no matter who the voters are or from what race, they are going to vote for the opposition.

For years, the goodies always only came at election time. Look at what the MCA was fed with. Millions of ringgit for the Chinese schools. The Chinese will accept this because such funds were long overdue. But common sense should prevail here. These goodies should go to the Indian schools first because the Indian schoolchildren are in a dire need for proper schools.

In the muhibah spirit of BN brotherhood, MCA President Ong Ka Ting should tell the PM to channel the funds to the MIC and S Samy Vellu. Umno thinks that by funding the Chinese, they will have the Chinese votes. The Chinese will take the money because it is rightfully theirs for the community’s development but they will vote for the oppositions instead.

Why? Because the Barisan government has hoodwinked the Chinese, Indians and even the Malays for far too long. Every component party has to beg and wait for the government handouts while wastage and corruptions escalate.

Should we keep on supporting the Barisan Nasional government led by Abdullah Ahmad Badawi? I think not. Corruption involving government bigwigs are forgotten. The arrogance and lies from the PM are obvious and he should be told by civil society members how to behave.

BN politicians will now do their once in every five years turun padang to shake your hand, carry your baby and ask for your support. While we should support those who really work for the people, I hope I don’t meet those politicians who only come out at election time. Standing at the market and waving with your silly smile, I will respond with my elegant long finger.
