LETTER | Is Malaysia prepared to brace itself and its citizens through a possible World War III?
Much of the global media is clogged with online reports of a highly probable third world war.
Indeed, the numerous reports of incidents and insights from analysts point towards a full-blown WWIII scenario in the making.
Hence, what is the Madani leadership doing to educate, prepare, and care for its citizens should the warring situation between so many nations, their proxies, and enemies go out of control?
Should our leaders not focus on national needs rather than busying themselves with international brokering?
Should our elected lawmakers on all sides of the political divide not converge and stand united to work out a war preparedness plan rather than be preoccupied with undermining each other?
What do we do in the wake of crossfires in the seas surrounding us and our border security?
What do we do when our exports are jeopardised, owing to a supply chain breakdown in the war between the superpowers?
How do we ensure that citizens - including the millions of migrant workers here, do not starve for want of basic food supplies?
Can we ensure that health and medical needs do not crumble owing to pharmaceutical and medical equipment shortages?
Can we ensure that we have bunkers for safety as some of our immediate neighbours have implemented?
If WWIII breaks out, our tens of thousands of citizens overseas and our students studying beyond our shores must be safely brought home. What are the fail-proof measures in place?
To dismiss these concerns as paranoid is akin to living in a cocoon or being guilty of self-denial propaganda.
To not provide convincing, foolproof assurances is a regrettable failure we cannot afford in these perilous times.
