I refer to the letter NEP a disservice to Malay Malaysians .

The writer is right in saying that the NEP has penetrated into all facets of life in Malaysia, especially during the 22-year tenure of the last prime minister. I am doubtful that the NEP can be reviewed or scrapped under the present political structure and reality where racial dominance takes precedence over everything and anything.

Thirty-seven years is long enough to implement anything under the sun and with the existing political reality, there is no way out. To expect change from within is almost a 'mission impossible' comparable to asking for a miracle from a dying man.

As long as the life of the average Malaysian continues to be good, even if they can only enjoy the spillovers or leftovers from the sub-sub-contracts and benefit from the higher purchasing power of the civil servants, than everything shall remain at square one.

As the Chinese say, 'Wine continues to pour, dance as usual, horses continue to race'. Let's forget and forgive.

As long as business is good, who cares what the NEP is; who cares that the 30% equity target for bumis has been surpassed; who cares paying 7% more for a house; who cares meritocracy is manipulated; who cares matriculation is not on par with STPM; who cares if government banks discriminate against non-bumi SMEs; who cares if UM's academic standard is declining; who cares if crony companies continue to be patronised despite their inefficiency and who cares if government projects are awarded with an inflated price?

Who cares as long as economy is good, and my business is good as well?

Thirty-seven years is long enough to fine-tune a wealth-creating machine even it only benefits the inner circle which is five percent of the population. They are our leaders and as they lead, we rakyat just follow.
