First let me declare that I am no great fan of the 'bocor' MPs Bung Mukhtar Radin and Mohd Said Yusof. In fact, I don't rate our MPs very highly because, in general, I honestly think our MPs and senators are getting a 'gaji buta'.
Alternatively, members of the Dewan Rakyat and Dewan Negara are called 'lawmakers' but what have been doing all these years, especially the backbenchers? Ask any man in the street whether they remember any of these members of the legislative branch having left any memorable mark in the form of a landmark piece of legislation, a life-changing amendment to an existing law, etc, and you'll draw a blank.
Thus, due to the 'whip' system, government backbenchers become 'Yes men' while DAP MPs are so scared of their 'Emperor Lim' they also ended up as a 'Pak Turut'. I don't remember the government whip or Lim allowing their MPs to vote according to their conscience on any issue or legislation.
The way I see it, we are wasting so much time and energy on this 'bocor' issue. Women, Family and Community Development Minister Shahrizat Jalil already says there is 'closure' as the two have apologised. Remember not too long ago, one Sabah politician said some rape victims had probably 'enjoyed it' and nothing happened to him. He apologised too. This to me is a hanging matter.
Winsome Fong Po Kuan (the DAP female MP from Batu Gajah who is at the centre of this controversy) should fight back with a good riposte like: 'I hope these MPs get hernia or suffer from Mati Pucuk (MP)'.
Po Kuan should also start a campaign to persuade Pak Lah to appoint a female judge as the speaker of Dewan Rakyat
And if DAP MPs think that our Dewan Rakyat is becoming rowdy, they should see the language that is used in Australian parliament or how about the Korean and Taiwan parliaments where fistfights are quite common.
I would love to see our MPs to indulge in a bit of 'MIC meeting' from time to time for only then the rakyat will appreciate that they are doing some honest work to earn their big fat salaries, allowances and overseas trips.
