LETTER | Whom I want in the new cabinet line-up

LETTER | The prime minister from Perikatan Nasional has resigned together with his cabinet. I am glad that they finally did.

As it was in 2018, the morning after GE14, the events of yesterday have brought about new hopes for this nation beaten and bruised by gross mismanagement of the economy and the pandemic along with every other aspect of governance.

It is also the time to think and name the people who should take over the governance of this nation and steer it to safety from now onwards.

I would like Fahmi Fadzil, Nurul Izzah Anwar (she should step out of her father’s shadow), Yeo Bee Yin, Hannah Yeoh, P Prabakaran, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, Lim Wei Jiet, leaders of Sekretariat Solidariti Rakyat (SSR) and Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) to be appointed to the cabinet, a much smaller cabinet to serve this nation.

These are the people that I, a parent of two young adults, have full faith in to turn the fate of this nation around and save her from her current state of devastation.

These are young people I know and their commitment as politicians and leaders of civil movements are testimony to their unshakeable determination to set things right for Malaysia.

The recent events that saw the emergence of SSR and Muda and their expression of dissatisfaction and frustration over the state the nation is sliding into, show their drive to bring about change to the nation suffering from abuse and neglect.

Their demands to the government of the day, braving possible persecution were selfless and their social consciousness, impressive.

The rejection of Muda’s application to be registered as a political party, twice, says so much for their potential as future leaders of Malaysia.

No more atoks, abahs and alongs. No more kleptocrats, no more frogs, no more double standards, no more class division.

I strongly believe, these names I mentioned above, along with many other young men and women whose hands hold the future of this nation would do a marvellous job of leading this country to glory.

I want a cabinet that consists of intelligent and patriotic individuals, who strongly uphold fairness, justice and equality, and respect every Malaysian’s rights to equal opportunities to education and wealth.

Hence, I request that the new cabinet should mainly consist of these young people, for this nation has far to go without being dragged down with archaic and obsolete styles of governance.
