It appeared in Chinese newspapers recently, a complaint to MCA regarding the haphazard demand for money from the Inland Revenue Department. I can testify to this as my company, too, has recently been 'visited upon'. The tax agents clearly and upfront say they are here to find money. No matter how clean your books look, they need to find money. I think this is preposterous and outrageous. I have been robbed in broad daylight by this government who needs to continue feeding their blood-sucking cronies and contractors.
They come, throw out whatever deductions they want (although legitimate) and insist we pay a higher income tax, topped up with a fine. They ask for the money immediately and no installment payments is allowed.
We earn every penny through our sweat and blood and give to the government what is due them and yet these people from the Inland Revenue Department come like bullies and take this hard-earned money. I am beyond anger. I am quite fed up with this Barisan Nasional government.
This attitude that they must get something from every company they visit works on the premise that every company cheats the government. It instead causes me to think if it is worth being honest since in the end, the IRD will come looking for faults anyway.
Instead of spurring growth, the government has decided to be business unfriendly, not realising that these small companies and entrepreneurs are what keep this country's wheels spinning. In a few years, I aim to take my company out of Malaysia and I foresee many others will do the same what with this government taking the country down the road of unfriendly business practices.
