LETTER | The Malaysian people have voted in the 14th general election and they have given the mandate to PKR, DAP, Bersatu and Amanah.
I find it bemusing that it is assumed that Dr Mahathir Mohamad will be the prime minister-designate. Why are Pakatan Harapan leaders so desperate to have the old PM as the second-time PM?
What is wrong with having Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the PM-designate?
After all, Mahathir has already said he will only be a very temporary PM until Anwar is free.
So what is so intimidating a role for Wan Azizah to be the interim PM and Malaysia’s first woman PM?
After all, she’s the leader of the party in the Harapan coalition, with PKR with the most number of seats. Mahathir’s party has won only 12 seats and Harapan is not a registered coalition.
I remember when feminists made a hue and cry about Wan Azizah not being chosen as the menteri besar of Selangor after the "Kajang Move".
It is time for feminists (including principled men) to be consistent and to support Wan Azizah as the interim PM.
Why must Kak Wan be the eternal interim whatever? Didn't the Malaysian people vote for change?
